Pre-Teen: Snow Globes

On December 9, 2009 pre-teens made snow globes. I think they turned out pretty cute.

What you need: baby food jars (empty and washed out), little figurines, water, and white snow glitter, glue, and ribbon.

Glue the figurine to the bottom of the jar. Once dry add the water and snow glitter. Put the lid on the jar and secure tightly. Add a colored ribbon around the lid for decoration.

Pre-Teen: Melted Crayons

This is a great project for all those broken and used crayons you have around the house. So instead of throwing them out use them to make melted crayon art. For detailed instructions click on the link below:

Pre-teens enjoyed doing this program with the help of the children's librarian and volunteers. By the smiling faces it looks like they had a great time.

Pre-Teens: Yarn Art

On September 16 we made yarn art. We made bowls to be exact. All you need to make your own yarn bowl is a Styrofoam bowl, glue, scissors, and yarn. Cut the yarn into strips and glue the strips to the inside and the outside of the bowl. It's that easy. From the pictures below you can see that each bowl has a different pattern. These bowls turned out fantastic.

T-Shirt Painting

On June 17th the pre-teens got to decorate t-shirts. They brought in their own t-shirt and we provided them with paint and decorative materials to make their t-shirts look great.
